Kind of obsessed with the print on my newest dress #navyandwhite (Taken with instagram)

Even until recently, I was afraid to tell anyone, for fear of the reaction that I would get, or the way they would view me. I felt that if I told my story, I would be wearing the scarlet ‘A’ forever. I felt that I would be one of the vicious women that senators and representatives talk about who ‘abort their babies to fit into a prom dress’. That kind of rhetoric hurts me because that wasn’t what happened. […]

Even though some people may see me differently after knowing I had an abortion, I’ve chosen to share my story to let others in the community know that abortion shouldn’t be a taboo subject. We can comfort one another and change the conversation. We can shape what people hear about our lives and our stories.

Renee, writing about her abortion for the “pro-voice” organization Exhale.

*I can’t say that I have a personal experience to share here, so maybe I should keep my mouth shut… but I stand firmly with Nora on all she’s said tonight. And I can’t help  but wonder- if every woman spoke up, shared her story, made it known.. it would be a lot harder for all the jerky men trying to legislate our bodies to do so.

In the same way that Dan Savage says that coming out is important bc the only way people will change their prejudices and open their minds is if they realize that good, chill people they already liked just happen to be gay (ok i paraphrase but i’m sure you get it)…. if all the men (and anti-choice women) out there listened to the women they knew and were friends with and loved, put faces and hearts to the stories, it would be a lot harder for them to be such pricks. You keep it abstract, it’s easier to mouth off with anti-choice rhetoric. You make it personal and individual, that is what touches other humans and makes the difference. Nora, you are smart and powerful and I thank you for sharing. All my love…

CHRIS BENZ FALL/WINTER 2012.13

Just when you think Chris Benz can’t top himself, he does exactly that! Benz took us to a vintage world of big wigs and dress up! Benz studied hard on old footage of Dolly Parton and Judy Garland to really channel the feel for this collection: dress up cocktail party chic. This was done in extremely good taste and has to be the best we’ve seen from him in a while. A+!
